Kate Armstrong
Strategic advisor for organisations building in complex emerging fields
Kate Armstrong is a strategic advisor, facilitator and moderator specialising in emerging fields at the intersection of nature, technology and society.
She works with domains where new knowledge, capital, governance and public interest are forming at the same time, helping ecosystem leaders, funders and innovators make sense of complex landscapes, identify where change is gathering and build the strategies, partnerships and practical infrastructure needed to move from insight to action.
Over the past decade, Kate has led and advised international initiatives across climate, biodiversity, distributed innovation, frontier science and public-interest technology, working across academia, industry, government and civil society. She is Executive Director of Interspecies Internet and former CEO of the Fab City Foundation.
Example work
→ Built and led an 18-institution, €2M European platform for an emerging field with no prior coordination structure, securing continued funding and establishing relationships with the European Commission.
→ Developed strategy and operating frameworks for a 56-member global network, representing the organisation at APEC and TEDx.
→ Convened international research and policy dialogue for a global interspecies communication initiative, building working relationships with Google.org, Internet Archive and Earth Species Project and contributing to XPRIZE development.
